Gordie Howe is a design-build-finance-operate-maintain contract for a new 6-lane, 2.4-km (1.5-mile) cable-stayed international bridge with a clear span of 0.85 km (0.53 miles) that will cross the Detroit River between Detroit, Michigan and Ontario, Canada. The project features port-of-entry facilities in both the United States and Canada, a new interchange in Detroit consisting of primary connecting ramps to and from the port-of-entry, four new crossing road bridges, five new pedestrian bridges, and service/local road improvements. The Canadian port-of-entry connects directly into the Right Honourable Herb Gray Parkway, which is also an ACS project. The newly constructed crossing will be a toll bridge, with toll collection facilities for both the US- and Canada-bound traffic located on the Canadian side of the bridge.
