The Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Toronto, Canada is an important component of the Regional Transportation Plan developed by the Government of Ontario through its metropolitan transport authority Metrolinx. This plan seeks to improve the quality of life and to grow a strong and competitive regional economy by redefining the way people move around Greater Toronto.This public-private-partnership (P3) project includes the design, construction, finance and maintenance of a new 10.9-km (6.8-mile) street running, light rail transit system along Finch Avenue West, one of the more congested arteries in Toronto. The project includes 16 new at-grade stops, a below-grade stop, and an underground station. The project also includes a maintenance and storage facility, the supply and incorporation of all railway systems, and the integration and maintenance of the new 18-vehicle fleet.
